Gize Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Center – under HM FZ Trading PLC is primarily established with a social responsibility of long-term vision to bring a real and dynamic advancement in the mental health of the society. With a profound insight and inclination to play a significant role by adopting both innovative and inventive approaches in the management, establishment, and all technical aspects of the organization, the owners hope to come up with quality-sensitive mental health service on a real-time basis and hence the name of the company, Gize, which means time.

HM FZ Trading PLC is registered and established in the year 2011 E.C., while Gize Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Center – under HM FZ Trading PLC has started in the current year with a wide vision to serve the society for mental well-being. Professor Mesfin Araya is a pioneering Ethiopian psychiatrist and academic leader who transformed the nation’s mental healthcare landscape through his transformative leadership at Amanuel Mental Specialized Hospital and decades as a Full Professor of Psychiatry at Addis Ababa University. Renowned for advancing transcultural psychiatry and public health education, he served as Provost of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College and went on to lead the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission as Chief Commissioner—bridging medicine, higher education, and national peacebuilding.

Professor Atalay Alem is a globally distinguished Ethiopian psychiatrist, epidemiologist, and researcher who plays a cornerstone role in expanding psychiatric training and research in Sub-Saharan Africa. A Full Professor of Psychiatry at Addis Ababa University and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre in Mental Health, he previously served as Medical Director of Amanuel Mental Specialized Hospital and has authored hundreds of influential scientific articles on psychiatric epidemiology, maternal mental health, and integrating mental healthcare into primary health systems. Renowned for his lifelong commitment to addressing severe mental illness and championing community-based care, Professor Atalay's global academic impact has earned him prominent recognitions, including the prestigious Harvard Award in Psychiatric Epidemiology.

Professor Assefa Abegaz is an accomplished Ethiopian scholar and researcher in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Addis Ababa University. With extensive scientific contributions spanning soil organic carbon dynamics, climate-smart agriculture, remote sensing, and sustainable watershed management, his work focuses on solving critical environmental and agricultural challenges across Ethiopia's highlands. In addition to authoring dozens of peer-reviewed publications, Professor Assefa serves in academic leadership roles, including leadership within AAU's Academic Health Center (AHC) initiatives that drive cross-disciplinary innovation, health sector education, and sustainable natural resource policy.

Associate Prof. Solomon Negussie

Solomon Negussie Abesha is an associate professor and former dean of the College of Law and Governance Studies at Addis Ababa University. He earned his PhD from Utrecht University, Netherlands; his LLM from Amsterdam University, Netherlands; and his LLB from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. His research focuses on comparative constitutional federalism, law and development, and human rights. He serves as a senior resource person in decentralization and governance, and he has published widely in the areas of constitutional law, taxation, federalism, and human rights. Currently, besides teaching and research, he is serving as senior legal advisor for the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council. He also serves as board chair for a local civil society organization working on promoting dialogue, peace and conflict transformation in Ethiopia.

Associate Professor Tequam Debebe is a prominent Ethiopian radiologist and academic leader specializing in neuroradiology and pediatric imaging within the Department of Radiology at Addis Ababa University. With decades of clinical practice and teaching at Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Specialized Hospital, his work centers on advancing diagnostic imaging, neurosurgical imaging for traumatic brain injury and skull base tumors, and pediatric radiology outreach in resource-constrained settings. Alongside his clinical leadership, he plays a key role in expanding radiological training and implementation science initiatives to build sustainable medical imaging capacity across Ethiopia.

Ato Solomon Alemseged is a prominent Ethiopian entrepreneur, real estate developer, and corporate leader best known for his foundational role in private sector governance and urban development. He served as the Board Chairman of Berhan International Bank S.C. during its expansion phases and leads real estate, commercial, and general trading enterprises in Addis Ababa—including Asier Trading and high-profile commercial property developments across the Bole and Yeka sub-cities.

Associate Professor Yewondwossen Tadesse Mengistu is a pioneering Ethiopian physician, nephrologist, and academic leader who plays a foundational role in establishing and advancing kidney care and internal medicine training in Ethiopia. Based at the Department of Internal Medicine within Addis Ababa University's College of Health Sciences (Tikur Anbessa / Black Lion Specialized Hospital), he served two terms as Department Head and has long led the hospital's Renal Unit. In addition to training generations of medical residents and subspecialists, Professor Yewondwossen is internationally recognized for his clinical research in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and rheumatic disorders, as well as his advocacy leadership with global and regional organizations like the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the Ethiopian Medical Association.

Associate Professor Sadik Taju Sherief is a leading Ethiopian ophthalmologist, clinical researcher, and pioneer in pediatric eye surgery. Faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at Addis Ababa University and Head of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Menelik II Referral Hospital, he holds the distinction of being Ethiopia's first surgical fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist, having completed subspecialty training at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. Globally recognized for his work in combating childhood blindness, he leads national initiatives to expand pediatric eye care, advance screening and treatment for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and train the next generation of eye care specialists across Ethiopia.
